Tuesday sees a Vineyard Cafe event in South Africa, followed by the Why We Worship conference on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (11-13th March).
by Donn Edwards
The long-awaited Why We Worship conference includes high-calibre worship leaders and speakers from around the world. This conference was to have been held last year, but was interrupted by the tragic death of Chris Wimber, the then General Manager of VMG.
The conference brings together top class worship leaders from South Africa and the USA, and promises to be a truly memorable time of teaching, modelling and imparting the heart and activity of worship. We will bring as much coverage as possible of these events, including an interview with Jeremy Cook, president of the Vineyard Music Board of Directors.
The conference organisers are a bit shy about mentioning the achievements of the worship leaders, not wanting to promote individuals but to stress the corporate nature of worship. But their record speaks for itself: You Shelter Me reached number 46 on the August 1998 top albums chart from CCM Magazine. This is pretty good for a worship album in the crowded CCM charts.
Brent Helming has led worship on four Vineyard albums: Jesus Lead On, Vineyard Cafe Mercy, You Shelter Me, and Why We Worship: Intimacy, as well as providing backing vocals/playing on 10 other Touching the Fathers Heart albums and 5 Acoustic Worship albums. He also appears with Rita Springer on the Intimacy album. Rita leads worship on Why We Worship: Holiness, as well as singing on numerous other albums. She is one of the worship leaders on the new Vineyard compilation album, Women in Worship.
There are four events happening in rapid succession in Johannesburg:

Welcome to the fanzine of Vineyard praise and worship music. This site started in January 1996, with only a few pages of information about albums from Vineyard Music Group, as part of a larger site about the Vineyard in South Africa. The vision has grown, and the focus has changed, to concentrate on Vineyard praise and worship music. We trust you will find something here of value and interest.
God desires that we all worship Him, so if you use any of the music on this site to worship the Lord, then we want to hear from you. A fanzine is a magazine written by fans, for fans. In this case it is written by worshippers for all those who wish to worship Jesus in a more meaningful way. We are always on the lookout for information about worship albums from Vineyards and their friends around the world, so if you have something to add, get in touch!

This site used to be known as the Unofficial Vineyard Music web site, because they have a really cool site of their own, and this site is produced independently, in co-operation with VMG and others. Here you will find album reviews, articles on worship, song words for worship leaders, and resources for people who want to spend more time in worship. Enjoy your visit. Come back as often as you like. Bring your friends along.
